In the current tvOS release as of this writing there is some sort of bug with the EPG rendering. Several time slots are just missing: usually the ones closest to “now”. Same time slots shows in the latest iOS beta and Web beta.
Edit: oh and I’ve also experienced time slots being rendered overlapping. That seems to have ceased but empty slots are still there. Interestingly it does show in the “Also showing” swipe down menu.
Am I alone in this or am I reporting wrong?
TLDR: LiveTV & DVR is unusable for me. The “now” time slot is gone so I can’t even start the channels.
Can you try a manual refresh of the guide?
Tried it with a mixed result: A few “now” slots got updated. Most still empty. Additionally I saw the overlapping rendering again.
Yes experiencing exactly the same. I reported problems with the Also showing a few months back where after watching a show that subsequently ended you could no longer select anything to watch. Thankfully that is now resolved but yes I experience constant empty slots at the beginning of the guide.
Furthermore the “On right now” section often contains blank posters, again swiping down in “Also airing” resolved the majority of the missing posters. Another gripe is the On right now section is in a random order making it difficult to find an episode to watch, for example ITV is the third channel in my lineup, it is sometimes near the start and sometimes near the end, sorting that list by channel number would be a great help.
If the developers are reading this please have a look at how Fubo TV on Apple TV presents the Also Airing, instead of a swipe down it’s a swipe up and the presentation is far more readable.
Please give some loving to the live tv section after all we all get bored off the tv show/movie library. Live tv is the most used area in my household and unfortunately this app has some way to go to be fully useable
You are right. I could go on and on about the LiveTV & DVR feature. I mean if you have a correctly sorted list already why on earth would you scramble it for the “Also showing” feature?
In general the EPG and LiveTV seem to be a study in horrible UX. As a seasoned engineer myself I don’t know how it materialised the way it did. I’m not trying to be funny btw.
I am forced to use another external application for LiveTV currently and even when it works it’s just a hassle to use with 100+ channels. I strongly suggest Plex hires a UX engineer and takes a long hard look at the LiveTV feature (and I’m excluding the player issues here).
Getting the same issues with the latest beta. No option to watch the channel so anything that started before the latest time slot is unavailable to watch.
