Regression behavior on the EPG (positioning according to the current time in the guide)

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: 9.9.0.35519
Tuner Make/Model: HD Homerun connect Duo
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: -

Hello, since a few versions when we watch a channel and come back to the guide after a while. The guide no longer positions itself at the current time. If the last time we were in the guide to select a channel (ex: 1:00 PM) when we come back to the guide a little later (say 6:00 PM) the guide is still positioned at 1:00 PM. Like I said at the start of my post everything was working fine until about 10 month ago.

Looks like it’s finally fixed!

I updated to version 9.10.0 and the guide grid still behaves the same as before

Show listings stay in place as time header moves automatically

Mine is exactly the same on my Nvidia Shield. I also find huge blank spaces in the listings when I return to the guide. The only way to resolve is to exit the guide and return to it forcing it to reload.
Very annoying.

Last Good Public Version that i’ve sticked to until they fix this problem is 8.22.0 (27533) if you want to side-load it for the meantime.

Still waiting for a fix…

I don’t see these issues on my Android device. Firestick 4k on 9.15.0.38015 using Plex EPG or XMLTV.

What Android device are you using?

Have the same issue. - Guide remains at the time it was originally tuned.
Running NVIDIA Shield - Plex App 9.15.0.38159
Win 10 PC (only runs PMS) 1.31.0.6654
HDHomeRun Connect Quatro

When I try to change Live TV (OTA) channels, if I have been watching one channel for an hour or more, I get a bunch of blank boxes and the Guide is still showing a time when I first opened Plex. To get the Guide to update to the current time, I must back out of the Live TV tab (to any other tab) then select Live TV and the Guide shows ā€œNowā€ and I can select the desired program. It does seem to work well if I only watch a 30 show and change channels.
At one point this feature (ability to change channels) worked well.

Yep, same issue I had which was very frustrating and annoyed my wife considerably. I have moved over to Emby which is far superior is this respect and I am happy with it as a solution for me.
Unfortunately, I think this issue will remain forever with Plex, they seem to show no interest at all.

Kinda sad, Overall I like the Plex UI, but just over a year ago, because of issues that were not being addressed I tested a few alternatives. Found and started using Emby as well. The UI is not as nice as Plex, but, IT WORKS.
After talking with a streaming guru, decided to give Plex another shot. I am still testing Plex, trying to give it a fair and complete test, but, like I said, this is discouraging.
I would like to know if Plex knows about the issue, and if they plan to address it, OR if they feel it is not an issue, and users need to live with it.

I have now tested Plex on Nvidia Shield TV, MiBox, and FireTV Cube (Gen3). They all have the same problem.
So if there is anyone from Plex out there, you have a problem. As stated in this post, the Program Guide was working well at one point. So not sure why it should take months to identify the issue and correct it. Best of luck.

I raised it last October, via this post too when I was using a Chromecast, but still a big fat nothing from Plex

If we use a tag to notify them. Could we get their attention?

I have sent a ā€œFlagā€ to Plex. Lets see what happens.

Thanks for the flag. I can’t promise any ETA on a fix but I put a high priority tag on it. ( unfortunately we have a bunch of high priority bugs)

thank you

Hey, can you please confirm that this is still an issue? There were some changes shipped with 9.16 around timeline and should have addressed that issue as well.

Hey… I’ll give it a go. looking at the change log this has been fixed, will test and let you know. Thanks for pointing this out

HI, I’ve installed the latest versions but have weird behaviour with the TV guide. When I select a program to view within the guide (select a program being broadcast and click), it very briefly tries to load a screen before reverting straight back to the guide.

However if I long press on the selected program I have two options, ā€˜Record’ or ā€˜Go To Episode’. If I select the latter the programme tunes in without issues.

Odd behaviour and I can’t find anything about it via Google search. Any ideas please ?

I cracked it… on NVidia Shied under ā€˜Developer Options’. There is an option to ā€˜Don’t Keep Activities’ (Destroy very activity as soon as the user leaves it). With this enabled, selecting a channel within the guide to play, would not load the channel and just drop back to the guide.
Disable it to fix
