BUG: DVR tuner not configurable

Hi,

I am using latest Plex beta at the time of creation of this thread.

I configured a DVR tuner to each of my PMS and I during the creation process, the DVR tuner is configurable (channels, settings, etc) and visible afterwards. A certain time later (from a couple of hours later up to several days later), the DVR tuner device becomes unconfigurable via Plex Web in the PMS settings. This is the same for my DVR tuner ( AVM Fritz!Box 6490 Cable ) from Windows as well as from QNAP Plex Media Servers.

It looks like that (QNAP):

The DVR continues to work, so you get the program schedule and you can record programs (with the buggy implementation that you can find in other DVR-related threads), watch LiveTV, etc… but I cannot re-configure channels or the tuner device itself without completely removing it and re-adding it (which looses the channel list, etc).

I guess that Plex is using some kind of recognition method which does not work with my Cable tuner in the long run… but I don’t know for sure. Since the AVM Cable tuner is not officially supported but is in the list of Community Supporter DVR tuners, I am here to ask for help :slight_smile:

Plex has already stated that PMS cannot handle this.

Note : When connecting a tuner device to your Plex Media Server, the server expects that it will have exclusive access to the tuner. That means that if you use other programs or devices to access the tuner, you may experience unexpected behavior such as tuning problems or failed recordings.

What do you mean?
This is even the case if connected only via ONE PMS…
