Server Version#: Version 1.32.7.7571
Only the admin of the server has access to those settings. The Plex Pass features that are opened up to the other members of the home are things such as not having to pay for the mobile clients, sync/download on certain devices and any other Plex Pass features.

thanks for checking my topic!
- i’m the admin of the server.
- i’m a member of a home, which is owned by a plex pass customer.
- the transcode settings on my server don’t allow me to fine-tune all the things that the “home owner” (a lifetime plex pass customer) can fine-tune, such as choosing whether to use GPU or CPU to transcode.
hopefully this is just a bug. i understand you’re saying it’s the way it’s supposed to be. i just hope you’re wrong! ![]()
The clarification is helpful.
My understanding, and I could be completely wrong so hopefully a ninja or team member will jump in to clarify, is that the Plex Pass benefits that are inherited from being in a Plex Pass members home are for client side stuff.
If you want to have access to Plex Pass features server side, such as hardware transcoding like you are referring to or intro detection (which I believe requires Plex Pass), you need to actually purchase your own Plex Pass.
So, I don’t think this is a bug but working as intended.

but then i would just “switch user” and host the server under the home owner’s profile. that would be free.
Plex Documentation → Plex Home
Joining the Plex Home of a Plex Pass user does not give you a Plex Pass.
It enables certain capabilities, such as unlocking the mobile apps, allowing downloads from the Home admin’s servers (if admin permits), and access to Live TV / DVR from the Home admin’s servers (if admin permits).
If you want Plex Pass features for your server, such as hardware accelerated transcoding, you will have to purchase a Plex Pass.
