i agree with this. seems to be a ton of issues and features no one wants or uses. i just played w adding om deck to home screen on android tv app without success, i give up. seems plex just wants to make more money etc. i bought plex pass but im definitely looking at alternatives because there seems to be updates constantly which mess up the client side apps, etc. very annoying and frustrating.

Just wanted to say that later updates have basically solved my problems with the Android homescreen. I appreciate the option to returned to merged recently added feeds, but now that they’re properly labelled I actually like them separated.
I also personally like the new continue watching functionality, and the ability to customize what shows up on your (and other users) homescreens.
ONE thing that’s missing is you can customize all the homescreen hubs for all libraries, but not for Live TV and DVR. It would be great to be able to have it pinned, but tell it not to include Recent Channels or Shows On Now. Perhaps this warrants a separate post, or is already in the works?
Plex on Android TV has lots of QA issues for some reason compared with Roku or Apple TV versions. To keep the family happy (Plex is our DVR and Linear TV platform), I have turned off auto-updating on all my android TV devices (basically every TV in the house), and loaded an older version of the Plex client and never update it.
I strongly recommend if you are using Plex as a primary TV platform for your home, once you find a stable version, just turn off updating, and leave it in place. Plex seems to be more focused on adding new content and other things that are unrelated to the core functionality we use it for, so I don’t think you will miss much.
At some point, the server updates will probably break the client and force an update, but you can just freeze server updates as well.
If they fix the QA process for android TV client releases, then I may reconsider, but given how many times Plex TV and DVR functionality have broken in hard obvious ways over the last year, it’s just not safe to do updates to the Android TV client.
