Recently Added

hi,

what is the status for the Recently Added bug on Android devices? Still having recently added splitted in serveral hubs but with no information about which library it belongs to.

Any news on this?

thanks

They don’t say “Recently Added in {name of library}”? Is it just blank there?

yes just saying “RECENTLY ADDED” for all libraries. Is it still not possible to merge them all together? or maybe having the name of the library for all recently added hub on home screen?

Seeing the same here. I can usually tell by looking at the content which library is being displayed, but that is definitely not preferred.

what version of server and app are you running exactly and are you running automatic home screen?

Server version 1.21.4.4079. Yes, running automatic home screen.

whaat version of app on firetv (or whatever android device you are using)

Plex for Android 8.14.0.23093-beta

hmm. wonder if this has to do with issue of app not refreshing from server data that I saw i another topic about fire tv. It is showing the library names on my fire tv but one of my newer test libraries is not showing up at all in the app. ( my shield is fine though)

I have the same behavior on Plex Web.

Just checked all my other clients (Roku, Xbox, LG WebOS, iOS). All except Shield and Plex Web show the library name alongside “Recently Added” as it should be.

Same issue on my Android phone.
App version: 8.13.1

Are you using the local or hosted (app.plex.tv) web app? or it is happening in both.

Happening in both.

I don’t ever recall seeing the library name beside the Recently Added hubs in Plex Web or the Android apps. So I don’t think it’s a new bug/regression.

Android version: 8.13.1 on two phones and two Android TV devices
Plex Web (hosted) version: 4.52.2
Plex Web (local) version 4.51.3
Plex Server version: 1.21.4.4079

Android devices are on automatically manage. It’s the only way On Deck and Continue Watching will show items from all libraries. Trying to manually manage the home page on an Android is an effort in futility anyways, so there’s no point in trying. I’ve just learned to live with the fact that each RA hub will show items from all libraries of that type.

Both version of Plex Web are usually managed manually, but I did reset to automatic try out the “Universal Continue Watching” experimental feature. That was turned off instantly so that I could get rid of the multiple rows of “Recently Added”

Is there a logical reason why the changes to “Recently Added” wasn’t considered an “Experimental Feature” that we could opt into so that bugs, improvements and feedback could be considered before it was implemented system wide?

It’s been there for a while now. at least since the RA’s were all split but pretty sure before that as well. Though a manually managed home screen might have been different than auto for some. I used both and have the names show on both for me. Just trying to figure out why I see something different than y’all.

There are multiple new features coming regarding the home screen customization that they needed to be split for. I think the whole “experimental features” thing came about after feedback about that. I don’t think reverting it at this point is possible/feasible though.

If logs from the apps and/or server will help, I can get you some over the next day or so. I don’t know how to get the web app logs, (I use Chrome) I’m also not sure what I would need to do to replicate the error, if that’s what we call it, because it’s there all the time. The name of the library the RA hub is for simply does not show.

I didn’t expect that Recently Added changes could be rolled back. I did find it odd that the accidental revealing of the Universal Continue Watching hub was rolled back right away over 2 months ago, but the change to Recently Added, that occurred at the same time, were not.

I sincerely hope that the new features for customization are going to be rolled out as an experimental feature we can opt into. The home page on Android devices has been broken, unreliable and basically un-customizable for 2 months (on my devices, anyways) Let’s make sure everything works, instead of squashing bugs after the fact, as we are now.

For right now if any of you can just take a screen shot of the web and/or the android app with RA and no library name it would be appreciated. So I can add it to my report. Feel free to block out your library content posters like i did in the screenshot above. (I use Skitch but I imagine there are lots of apps that can do similar) I’ll figure out what logs if any are necessary and get back to you about that.

Hosted Web app movie hubs in auto-manage

Android TV in auto manage

Amazingly, the Recently Added movie hubs are not showing duplicates in this photo from Android TV. Generally, there is a mix of items from the various movie libraries so you really can’t tell which hub is which.

This screenshot shows only two ‘Recently Added’ sections, but all the Movie libraries listed on the left have the same section title - i.e., just “Recently Added Movies.” This is from the hosted web app, latest beta versions.

All movie libraries listed on the left have all the same title ~RECENTLY ADDED MOVIES~

this is for all android device running latest versions for android-tv or android-mobile.
