[BUG] Items Not Added To Recently Added If Incorrect Match

Server Version#: 1.16.6.1592

Scenario:

  1. Add movie.
  2. Movie gets matched as a duplicate of another movie, when it is not.
  3. Split apart and fix match

Expected result = Movie should be re-matched and added to recently added section, as it is a recently added unique value

Actual result = Match is fixed but not added to section, just in library.

Pretty easy to replicate for testing. Just copy a movie, paste it back in another folder. Scan and you’ll see the duplicate. Split apart and fix match (pick random crap you don’t have in library to avoid endless loop )

If anyone with a Windows, Docker, Etc server could validate it’s not platform specific, I’d appreciate a chime in here.

This is the same for all.

Yes. this is the case. When it was added and seen as a duplicate.

To split apart doesn’t rematch because its already matched. It just gives out a new identifier, not addedAt timestamp.
If you notice the addedAt= are the same.
How to look

@NewPlaza But is this the best way to do it? Isn’t recently added, recently added?

Seems like a UX flaw at that point.

Well, yes and no.
It really depends on how you look at it. Duplicates take on the characteristics of the original item so when you split them apart, those characteristics follow.
This is not idea for you but on the other side of the coin is idea for someone who after a month/year saw duplicates then started to split apart and notice they are now in recently added. This behavior would not be something they would want.

I myself would like to see plex maintain “DateAdded” attributes for each file. That way everyone gets the best of both worlds.

  • You add a duplicate now and split, the dup hits the recently added list.
  • You add a duplicate years ago and now split, the dup doesn’t hit the recently added list.

You may want to start a feature request(suggestion) outlining this.

Hit me up if you do, I’ll vote for it.

The best way to avoid this is to name your movies as required. Then these mismatches will occur extremely rarely.

In general, you should try to avoid Fix Match as long as possible and only use it in cases where changing the file name won’t work.

Hello @OttoKerner

Absolutely. I agree.

The issue is, there are certain movies that for whatever reason, get matched incorrectly due to “logic”.

For instance. Hex (2019) gets matched with The Little Witch (year).

If this is generally accepted behavior, I’m cool with it. Just more of a “that doesn’t make sense to me, so I’ll throw it up in case it’s not intended to do that”.

Ultimately a very minor issue but if nobody mentions something…

That sounds like a different issue.

Do this, if this movie is in a mp4/m4v container:
Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Afterwards, perform the Plex Dance with it.
