Split Apart, Un-matched, Fixed Match, Match, Plex Danced... still no Recently Added Movie

I added a rip of “Donald Duck’s Christmas Favourites” to my library yesterday. It was automatically mis-matched as “Disney’s Christmas Favourites” and added as a duplicate movie, because that movie already existed in the library. Fixed up easily with “Split Apart” and “Fix Incorrect Match” The movie shows up in the library now, but not as a new addition to the library.

It’s not the end of the world, but I’m curious why it does not show up as a new addition to the library after it has been properly identified manually.

The files are named:
Disney’s Christmas Favourites (2008).mp4
… imdb id# tt1798141
… themoviedb id# 275596
Donald Duck’s Christmas Favourites (2005).mp4
… imdb id# not found
… themoviedb id# 262549

Neither file has any embedded data except language tags for the audio tracks, and are in their own separate subfolders named the same way.

Both use the Canadian/British spellings of the word “Favourites” and the The Movie DB actually lists them with those spellings. IMDB uses the American spelling for “Disney’s Christmas Favorites.” Donald Duck can only be found by specifically selecting “The Movie Database” as the agent. The default “Plex Movie” agent can’t find it even though it claims “Primary metadata provided by IMDb. Additional metadata provided by The Movie Database, a free and open movie database.”

I must have tried a half dozen times to get the movie added as a new addition with various combinations of the Plex Dance, Unmatch, Split Apart, Fix Incorrect Match with absolutely no luck. Apparently, Plex is stuck with it’s first idea that it matched it with an existing movie, so it really can’t be a new addition.

I’m not going to worry about this bug for this particular movie, but for future reference, is there a way I can convince Plex that I really have added a new movie?

Viewing the XML for the two movies, both have the same “addedAt” information
addedAt=“1447081320” updatedAt=“1482774869” for the Donald Duck video
addedAt=“1447081320” updatedAt=“1482774572” for the Disney movie.

Just guessing, but Plex is not changing that piece of information, when it probably should after it has been corrected manually…

Thanks for the report. I’ll try to replicate and let the devs know.

I just re-added: Stephen Hawking’s Grand Design to the library again after some years of absence (and about a million Plex Dances) and Plex thinks it’s still part of the library and always has been. Never did show up in recently added. I had to double check to see if I actually added it.

Now that’s what I call ‘stubbornly hanging onto a bundle’.
