Server Version#: 1.43.0.10346
The title says it. For testing, I have created two libraries containing the same movie: Test1 (folder and file name with umlaut), Test2 (folder with, file name without umlaut). Only in Test2, the local poster has been recognized and is being displayed.
Plex Media Server.log (208.2 KB)
I think the umlaut here is a red herring, I don’t believe that’s the reason you’re not seeing the local poster.
The full server logs would be needed to dig more, I am not able to reproduce this issue using the exact same file names.
The log file is attached to my posting. Would you need any other logs than the Plex Media Server.log?
The server logs link explains how to grab the zip file, this contains additional logs - in this case I’d need to see the “Plex Media Scanner Matcher” logs, these roll over for every new refresh so they may no longer be accessible if you’ve used the server since your test.
Are these files located on a storage volume that is connected directly to the Mac?
Or are they on a NAS device, which is accessed by the server that runs on your Mac?
I tested both, having them stored on the NAS (connected via SMB) as well as locally on the Mac.
These are the last lines from the relevant log files:
Plex Media Scanner Matcher.log

Plex Media Scanner Matcher1.log:

The last line is missing for the Test1 library.
I believe it is indeed related to the Mac version of PMS. I installed PMS on a Windows VM and there it works as it expected.
Thank you for the testing! I’ll take a look on Mac and see if I can find out what the difference is here.
Hi @drzoidberg33
Did you have the chance to test this scenario on a Mac?
Yes, and a fix has already been submitted but you won’t see this until a release next year.
Perfect, thanks for testing and confirming!
