In the Advanced section of Edit Library for a Music Library, there is an “Album Order” option to change the order by which albums are sorted on an Artist’s page. This can be set to “Newest First”, “Oldest First” and “By Name”
However, the “By Name” setting actually does sort by album name, rather than by album sort. Is this a bug? I would like it to sort by “Sort Album” instead of by “Album”.
For one thing, the “Name” “Title” sort option in the Library’s “Album” view sorts by “Sort Album”, and it therefore follows that this setting should.
Secondly, the secondary sort method for “Oldest First” or “Newest First”, in the event that albums have the same date, does (and for as long as I’ve been using Plex, has) sort albums by “Sort Album”, whereas the primary sort method for “By Name” does not.
Thirdly, in the case of audiobooks, if an author releases books in a series out of chronological order, and you want them to be listed thus; or else if you have a series of audiobooks from two different publishers (eg. Harry Potter: read by Jim Dale from Scholastic; read by Stephen Fry from Bloomsbury), sorting by album name doesn’t sort them by publisher/narrator.
