Firsty I am so sorry if i post this in the wrong area. This is my very first post!!
I have a problem that when I have added my music to my library I want to look and make sure it is loaded correctly.
So I prefer to look at artist view then album view and sort by album artist. I am having an issue where the artists are all gathered together in order but the names of the albums are in random order.
You will notice in the picture that The Beach Boys albums are in alphabet order. Then going on to The Beatles they are all pretty much jumbled.
I have gone into the info of the albums in question to try and fix the alphabet order and all seems ok. Looked to make sure the grouping is correct, there are no spaces before the album title, genre is filled in correctly and lastly refreshed the item and even updated the library.
Please help. I can not see anything that is different. Thank you for your support in advance.
Compare the release date which is set on the albums.
The sorting might be by date, not by AlbumTitle.
Side not: your ‘album title’ metatags contain a ‘disc number’. This causes Plex to treat each disc as a separate album. There is a separate metatag for disc#. Only use this and you’ll get proper multi-disc albums where appropriate.

I think you are misunderstanding.
You have a list of all albums there.
it is sorted by ‘AlbumArtist’, which as far as I can see is correct.
The ‘second level’ sorting of all albums by the same AlbumArtist might not be ‘by Albumtitle’ but by album ‘release date’.
Have you checked and compared for instance the ‘release dates’ of ‘Let it Be naked’ with ‘The blue album’?

Only globally for the whole library. This will also affect sorting order of albums when looking at one single album artist.
Edit your music library,
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab,
choose a different ‘Album order’
This global preference can be overridden for any particular AlbumArtist if so desired.
I deleted and re added library changed the setting and click saved. Re loaded the library but still looks like the are staying in date order. I have highlighted 50 cent showing this…

I see what you are saying but this just is not happening. Lets look at 50 Cent.
First you will notice on the main screen (1st picture) it shows sort by album then by album artist. Then as I am sure you are aware my wish is that all albums will be in album order alphabetically for that artists (also alphabetically)
The albums are named and sorted correctly (see 2nd picture & 3rd) Showing album details for ‘My Last Piece’ & ‘Animal Ambition’ but it is still defaulting to date release order
I have made sure in the music library advanced setting the album order is ‘By Name’.
I could not find ‘Album sort field’ am I missing something?
The strange thing is when I go artist view it does show the albums alphabetically?? (4th Picture)
Turns out, this hasn’t been tested before.
Currently, I assume the order of albums by the same artist is just ‘unsorted’.
We will file this as a thing to improve, so it respects the library ‘album order’ preference.
