Prerequesites: 3 x FireTVv2 with actual Plex app, 2x QNAP PMS servers (latest beta), each PMS has DVR configured and both of them are used to record TV shows (in order to overcome the one stream per IP limit of the Fritz!Box 6490 Cable router).
Expected behavior: Using the Fire TV Plex interface, you can switch servers and use both servers’ recording schedule and Live-TV features.
Reality behavior: You can only see one server’s DVR/Live-TV feature buttons in the main screen. If you switch to the other server, these features cannot be accessed (no buttons). If you close Plex on Fire-TV and re-open it again, again one of both DVR is visible (can change which one is visible), the other is not.
Educated guess… either the Live-TV/DVR features are being propagated and only trhe latest propagation is visible, or similar nonsense features are active.
User wish: Make all servers’ DVR/Live-TV features available on Fire-TV at the same time.
Since both PMS have valid DVR schedules, I call the actual behavior of the Plex Fire-TV / PMS DVR propagation a bug. I cannot have an overview on all schedules, cannot correct double recordings, must switch to a certain server to record something, the whole setting is erratic.
I’m seeing the same issue with my nVidia Shield client (7.9.0.8439) with two servers: Synology NAS, Linux (both 1.14.1.5488). They’re both connected to my HDHomeRun, but “Live TV” (and, interestingly, but not importantly, “Podcasts”) isn’t showing when connected to the Linux server.
It’s not just the FireTV client. I have PMS running on a Windows server and a Linux server. Both my FireTV client and my NVidia Shield client only display the LiveTV option when using the Linux PMS.
I also noticed that if I go into the settings on my WIndows PMS, it shows the live tv streaming activity happening on my Linux PMS (labeled properly as Ubuntu if I click on the activity notification.) There may be some sense to this as both servers cannot use a single tuner at the same time, but it would be nice if each server could use one of the 2 tuners on my HDHR Connect if I so choose.
