BUG: Photos are shown with oversaturated colors

I have a problem showing photos on my Samsung TV with Plex. All photos show way oversaturated colors. This problem only happens with Plex, if I display the photos via the default Samsung app, e.g. from a USB device, the colors are correct.

The TV is in the same picture mode and has the same picture settings in both apps. It also stays in the same picture mode that is used for video playback, therefore I can’t change any settings to fix the photos because that would then result in wrong colors for TV/movies.

If I view the photos on my PC via the Plex web interface the colors are ok too. So it seems very likely that the Samsung Plex app is the cause of the problem.

Can someone confirm this bug? Or maybe even has a solution?

I have the same problem. And it seems that the image quality settings of the TV don’t have any impact. I hope this issue can be resolved soon!

Problem persists with firmware 1202. But since the problem is specific to Plex, I already doubted that a Firmware update would change anything.

I do not. My pictures seem to look fine on my device. Can you DM me a sample, and tell me what your picture settings are set to?

I have same problem!! I’m sure it depends on Plex app for Samsung. The picture is shown with normal colors anywhere (pc, through usb device, iMac, etc) but not on Plex app for Samsung, where colors are oversaturated tending to red (faces are red). It happens on all photos.

Is there a fix available for this problem? My photos are perfect on all other devices (Windows PC, iPhone, iPad, …) but they are oversaturated a lot on my Samsung TV.

I even resized my photos to 4K but the quality of photos is still very poor with a lot of artifacts in the images.

Has someone tried to show photos on Samsung tv (Plex app) from a windows pc? I use the iMac and I have this problem of oversaturation. It would be interesting to know if the problem exists also with windows. If yes,
it surely means the problem is on Samsung Plex app

Why should the situation change with a different server OS? I’d hope the Plex server behaves the same on all OS.
Anyway, I run the Plex server in Docker, so on Linux.

I’m in contact with @sLumpy and have sent him samples, but he couldn’t reproduce the problem on his Samsung TVs yet.

I’ve logged an internal issue to look at this further. Will update if I find anything.

Thanks a lot for your future update. I finally understand that the issue depends on Plex app for Samsung (same tv, if I use Plex app for PlayStation4 I have no oversaturation problem and all works fine). The app is great for all the rest, I really hope you can find the solution for this colors alteration issue that makes it useless for showing pictures. Thanks in advance
