Photos are shown with oversaturated colors

@sLumpy I wanted to let you know that the problem reported in BUG: Photos are shown with oversaturated colors is still present in the new preview version of the app.

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: 5.1.2

We don’t do anything with the images other than just displaying them directly on the screen. We don’t do any sort of color correction, at most just a resize. There might be a setting on your TV that’s doing it? Did you have it calibrated when you got the TV? Every photo on all my Samsung devices display without issue.

I’ve sent you my settings a few months ago when I’ve also sent you a sample photo via PN. In case you don’t have that PN any more, here are the settings I’m using:

Picture mode: Movie
Backlight: 40
Brightness: 1
Contrast: 45
Sharpness: 0
Color: 25
Tint (G/R): 0
Color tone: Warm2
Gamma: 0
Color space: Auto
2 point and 20 point whitepoint calibrated with a colorimeter
(Note: The problem stays the same if I disable 2 and 20 point whitepoint calibrations)

As written in the old (linked) thread, the photos show correct colors when viewed with the Samsung app from an USB device. So there has to be some difference between the Plex app and Samsung app.

I’ve spent more time looking, and I don’t see any issues on all my devices. It has to be a TV setting. I suggest writing down your 2 point and 20 point settings so you don’t lose them, and reset them back to 0 and see if that makes the pictures less saturated. The reason the picture looks less saturated when plugged in with the USB stick could be the TV is dynamically changing the picture when using its own media players. There’s nothing I can do on my end, we don’t do any sort of colorization adjustments (nor do we have the ability to through the device APIs)
