[bug] played movied not removed from recently added list

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: Vizio or web

When a movie is watched, it is not removed from the ‘recently added movies’ list. I don’t need to see the recently added movie months after I’ve watched it. I even have the filter set to show unplayed movies only.

FYI server version means the Plex Media Server version, not OS you are running on.

To your post, are you referring to Recently Added sections on either the Home page or the Recommended tab on the library page? If so, that has nothing to do with the watch status of the movie. That’s just based on when the media was added to your server. If you do not add a lot of media to your server you will see the same recently added for a while.

This is not a bug.

Yes, the home page and recommended page. Right, it might be ‘working as designed’, but I’d argue it is a poor design. Recently added implies, ‘hey look at this, you might want to watch this new thing’. Once I watch it, the relevance of ‘recently added’ goes away, at least in my thinking.

I added the noted about watch status filter as emphasis to the issue, and not necessarily the root of the problem.

Thanks.

No. Recently added implies that the movie was recently added to the server, whether you’ve watched it or not.

If you look where you store your media files and sort by date created descending (newest first), whether you watch the movie or not, the OS is still going to show you the latest media you added first.

There is nothing in the definition of recently added that implies what you think it does.
The closet that you might get is the recently released recommendation section, but watching one of those movies also doesn’t have any bearing on whether it or appears there or not.

Also, as far as I am aware, the filter also has no bearing on the recently added movies. That is strictly meant for filtering within the Library tab, so if you go into the Library tab, you should not see the movies that you have watched.

So again, not a bug or design flaw.
