I’m having an issue when I cast a TV series to my Chromecast. If I’m casting the series (enter the series and click play without selecting a specific season and episode) it does not remember the episode position so if I stop playback it will always start at the beginning. It doesn’t matter how long I’ve been playing it either, I can be 35 minutes into a 45-minute episode or 5 minutes into the same episode, it never updates the progress on the server. So when I do eventually go back and play the series it will always re-start that episode from the very beginning.
I’ve tried this on multiple chromecasts, initiating the connection with multiple devices and through the web interface all with the same results.
I’ve attached a trace of the following scenario:
- Started casting to my Chromecast called “Office”
- Selected Futurama from the TV library
- Clicked the Play button in the series over-view.
- watched 5 minutes of the show
- Clicked Stop on my phone.
- Was brought back to the series over-view page
- Clicked Play again from series over-view page
I’d expect after step 7 that I’d re-start my show at about 5 minutes in where I stopped it but like every other time it starts from the beginning.
I also see the same thing with just playing on my tablet and phone (both Android) ignoring the chromecast all together
