I’ve noticed that in the last few PMS versions 1.15+, that media scans seemed to run on forever.
If you check a library in the web client it may show cancel scan but there may not be any activity shown on the activity drop down. or it may show scanning but that’s all. usually it would flicker as it scans but not in this case.
If you check the processes the Plex Media Scanner is not using any cpu, it just sits there.
If you cancel scan from the web client it will start using cpu again.
It may finish at some point or just pause/freeze and you start this loop again.
It doesn’t seem to be on any one movie or tv show. since I have more then one server pointing at the same media and they all have the same issue but at different times or not at all.
Also I only scan when there is a change to a file or folder.
In addition the scanner may actually crash in windows and I have posted that already a while back, the crash is a lot more rare and random.
Would be nice if this got looked into, There are no errors when this happens.
