Sometime in the past few weeks, I want to say after update 1.25.4.5426 or the incrementals that were released just after it (4.5468, 5487, or even 5.5492), I have noticed that often when I visit Plex on browser, the upper-right Activity marker is spinning on a scan, usually on my TV library. I hadn’t added anything recently, and the item (Show/Season) it appears stuck on varies. I know the library scans on its own but previously I rarely actually “witnessed” PMS doing this (except for when I’m actively uploading things and i see it detect them) - I presume because normally scans take <10 sec to complete.
I’ve noticed this issue happening almost daily.
I have tried leaving it in this state hoping it will fix itself, but the “stuck scan” persists for >24h. I have investigated the directories of the items that it seems to get stuck on, but haven’t noticed anything amiss or consistent; for example sometimes the season has some local subtitle assets, sometimes not. Nothing odd-looking about punctuation or spelling or filenames or issues with metadata in the library. Also, I’ve never had any kind of trouble with these media in previous PMS versions, and haven’t touched them recently - this is what makes me think it is related to a recent PMS update.
If I manually cancel the scan, it will stop itself after a few seconds, and if I then manually start a scan, it seems to complete just fine.
All of this behavior would be “fine” and not worth posting about EXCEPT: being stuck in a scan is causing issues in detecting when I do upload new media. I have to manually cancel the scan and start another so it can actually detect the new items.
The other odd thing is that it doesn’t get stuck EVERY time it scans - just many times.
