[BUG] Portrait iPhone videos stretched during playback

iPhone videos shot in portrait orientation are being stretched during playback, in some cases this throws an error recommending playing the file in original format (which it’s already set to do). This is happening on PMS 1.7.5.3045 (Synology) playing back on FireTV and Web.

I’ve the same issue with AppleTV as client… It’s really an annoying problem. It should be possible to force the orientation (with re-encoding) during the playback :frowning:

All my vertical video shot on my iPhone looks squeezed. Plex, please fix this issue.

I too am having the same issue. Android portrait videos seem fine though sometimes they are messed up, but def iOS portrait videos are always wrong. Another post mentioned that the latest update (1.7.6.4058) fixed the issue however I am on the latest and still have the problem. Don’t know if need to re-upload everything though which would be a rather annoying PIA.

I upgraded to Plex Pass especially for this. I want to archive, share and view family photos & videos from mine and my wife’s iPhone.

Some videos shot in portrait mode are completely distorted and squashed though. When I play the exact same file using VLC, it’s displaying properly… Interestingly not all videos exhibit this problem, but lots do.

Me too. Subscribing for a solution. Plex server 1.7.6.4058 on Centos 6.7. Problem continues on 1.8.0.4109. Clients are plex web app, iOS app, plex media player Windows 1.3.4 and 1.3.5 and plex media player 1.3.4&5 embedded raspberry pi.
I can post logs if requested.
