Bug. Recorded TV plays back in slow motion; played perfectly before

Exactly the same problem here… please fix!!

Just going to have to wait for feedback from @anon18523487 . It’s a regression of some variety but it still might be hard to fix. You can force a transcode on your device as a temp. fix.

Morning @anon18523487 is this issue confirmed by you. I can supply more examples if needed.

Happening on my FireStick as well. Going to playback and selecting a lower bitrate (and forcing transcode) does correct the issue.

Fwiw, only happens when recording back to back shows on the same channel, and cut between recordings is on a commercial. Show one, commercial is chipmunky. Show two, same commercial is normal but show is super slow.

We don’t know yet that this is confirmed by plex or the likes of @sixones

Sorry for not updating. I can confirm that I can reproduce the issue on my Shield and on mobile with the sample @Afullmark posted above.

I’ve not seen anything in the release notes and the issue is still there.

@anon18523487 I don’t suppose you have any update to share on this issue?

I have same issue too. If the recording starts after the program has started it works fine. However, if the recording starts before the start of the program and it therefore records the end of the previous program or commercials then it is in slow motion.

Is it picking something up in a previous transmission and then failing to amend when the actual program starts?

Setting playback to Convert Automatically fixes the issue but it’s not the best solution.

It’s only started happening a few weeks ago.

@sixones is doing a bunch of android fixes, but I don’t think this ‘slow motion’ issue is amongst those fixes.

Yep, can confirm I have the exact same issue on my Shield TV, thought it was my media for ages, glad I’m not going mad

Hi, was going to post about this issue when I noticed this thread! I have this exact issue on my Sony Android TV and my Firestick 4K and had worked out that it’s when the broadcaster (in this case BBC 1) had switched to Dolby 5.1. So I’m using the transcode work around! Hoping for a fix soon as this means a quality drop and the loss of 5.1 audio? Any time frame for a fix? Cheers Tim

Not heard back from @anon18523487 with an update yet.

I’ve reported it and the devs have started looking, but no update on what the problem is or when it may be fixed.

I have come across this issue on a number of my recordings and had to settle for the lower quality transcode. The adverts before the movie play fine then as soon as the movie starts sound and picture go super slow mo.

Then at the weekend I came across the oposite when watching a recording of Deadpool 2. The film played fine, but as soon as I got to the advert breaks the picture and sound froze. The first time the screen was completely black so I sat there like a fool for 10 seconds thinking it was part of the film. I could skip through the adverts ok, but if you stoped within them again it froze. The same was true for all the other breaks in the film.

It’s certainly preferable to the other way round. Hopefully it’s part of the same issue and they get fixed soon.

Any news on this issue, it’s been weeks now?

No news, but it is actively being investigated by the team.

Any new yet? It’s getting really annoying.

This is an issue on my recording of Fargo, when I select transcode as a temporary fix I am only getting 720p HD (Medium) as the highest quality option. This looks bad on my 50" TV. Other recording that have this issue I have been able to select 720p HD (High) which is reasonable quality. Why is this higher quality transcode option not available for my Fargo recording? Is there any way to force a 720p HD (High) transcode? Thanks

In line with :

If you leave the file un-analysed so it cannot determine the container then the file will direct stream fine. If you manually analyse the file, and the container value populated, you get the slow-motion bug.

V. annoying.

Yes it v. annoying! Another month goes by and still no fix!!
