When playing back content recorded through Plex DVR from a UK HD TV channel, although ads and station idents play OK, when it comes to the main content (in this case a movie) playback shifts into low gear - feels like about 5fps!
It’s only a problem when direct playing on Android TV and Android mobile. Playback on the Samsung TV app works fine.
I’m guessing this is the old problem that UK TV content can switch content types at programme boundaries - particularly between 1080i/p and audio codecs. Something’s confusing the player for sure, but it looks like the transcoder can fix it.
Player log attached - can share source file on request (but it’s big)
Reanalysis doesn’t seem to help me. Just for completeness, I note that I also can’t play the file at all on the Plex Web App under Windows 10 - I just get the spinner.
The problem for me shows up well if the previous programme is 1080i and the actual recorded programme changes to 1080p when it starts - or vice versa. Easily recreatable on BBC1 HD
Happened when the tail end of Match of the Day (1080p/5.1) segued into a recording of I Can See Your Voice (1080i/2.0) - The video and audio completely froze and the show could not be played.
Recently I recorded MOTD Euro build up special on Thursday 10th June 2021 - last minute before recording was 1080i/2.0 and when MOTD started in 1080p/5.1 the sound and video slowed to, as the OP says, a few FPS.
I’ll also say that it is STILL IMPOSSIBLE to timeshift live TV from a recording in progress on Shield TV - a ridiculous state of affairs, this has been going on for months and is a BASIC element of a DVR. Lol, Plex at it’s best as usual…
