In plex if you ever selected a manual piece of artwork, be it a show poster, background, season poster etc… Plex then sees them as locked field and adding local artwork will not then be auto set upon a refresh.
You would need to refresh and then find the new artwork in the edit panel and set it.
This was one of the reasons when I moved to local artwork I completely rebuilt my plex server so it would pick them up as new.
there is nothing in the edit panel in most cases for me…
i changed to the new shows scanner today and it changed a lot of posters for shows i manually picked posters before. (picked in plex, not jpg files). for others it didn’t.
i use the new agents for movies and shows… i have poster.jpg files since today in my folders.
i had some similar problem with some harddrive a year ago. for example i added a season of a show and plex recognized only 1-3 episodes. sometimes more episodes added with additional scans. (with a few days in between) but mostly not all.
it feels like the same here. but full scans not helped so far and this time its on 4 drives (no raid)
the jpg files are there in hundred of cases, but plex doesnt pick them up
thanks for the hint. but it picks up posters from shows i manually changed before. and it should of course!
in some cases plex did automatically, in some i had to use the edit panel
Perhaps I need to enable one of these settings on the library?
“Use local assets: When scanning this library, use local posters and artwork if present. (Local subtitles files will be used whether this is enabled or not)”
“Prefer local metadata: When scanning this library, prefer embedded tags and local files if present.”
It just seems odd that it works fine with my current configuration when I manually refresh the metadata but the “Refresh local metadata every three days” does not appear to be functioning correctly.
