Bug Report: DLNA Client NOT Updated AT ALL! On Deck, Now Playing, Recently Viewed ...(WDTV Live) - updated w Logs and downgrade works

UPDATE - ALL DLNA Updates seem to be broken!
DLNA communication back to Server may be broken in 1.13.9.5456. I was previously on 1.13.7 something and it worked fine.

  • Prior to update WDTV would update Now Playing, On Deck, Recently Viewed Shows, Recently Viewed Episodes - now no updates at all
  • Works fine on Plex Web and Plex Media Player on Mac, so may be a DLNA issue
  • When I make updates on Web or Player, the WDTV can query fine (shows current info) but does not update server
  • Same issue with Movies

Short log attached - points below related to DLNA timeline reporting. Longer logs can be provided if needed.
DLNA Server Log - started a TV show at line 175. on Line 285 a timeline request is sent and returns a 404 error!
Plex Media Server Log - same show starts at line 716. Timeline request done on line 766. between these points there are several DEBUG stating “Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected …” not sure if that means anything.

FYI - downgraded to 1.13.7-5369 and it works fine again! Will stay on this until there’s a fix

Happens for me as well with WDTV. All other devices update the ‘Now Playing’ area

Not fixed in today’s 1.14.0.5470 release. I am reverting again to 1.13.8.5395.

I’m not certain that anyone from the Plex team have seen this bug report … How do we elevate this to their attention?

Plex team used to be pretty good at scanning issues. I reclassified mine under Plex Media Server group (had it under players for some reason). Maybe that will get their attention. Not sure what else to do

Acknowledged here as a known issue - Plex not marking viewed items as watched anymore

Great. Thx for finding this. No rush to update right now - works fine for my needs and I don’t use alot of the new features

Looks like this issue is fixed in latest release 1.14.1.5488.

Hmmm … but the position seems not to be saved (WDTV).

I haven’t upgraded yet. But in the past, the timeline information was never sent back to the WDTV only from the WDTV to Plex. In Plex, the activity page showed progress and the WDTV managed its own progress (as long as I didn’t turn the WDTV off, it would remember where I was for any given show / movie. If i turned it off and back on, Plex would still show progress in the Activity window, but i’d lose it on WDTV.
Is that different that what you are seeing now?
