DLNA streamed media not marked as played anymore and stream status no longer shown. (Server Version#: 1.13.9.5439)

Server Version#: 1.13.9.5439

This is a simple problem. Since the last two or three updates when something is played from a DLNA device, Plex Server does not mark the media as played.

When I go back to the list of unplayed items then items that have been watched are still there. I have to manually mark media items as played.

Also, while media is streamed through DLNA no activity is indicated on the Plex Server player or app when before the Plex server indicated that media was being streamed.

I consider this a bug unless there is an option to enable and disable this behaviour on demand.

Have the same problem. Version 1.13.9.5439
I’m watching with an Grundig TV over DLNA.
My PMS Log is full with these error messages

Oct 23, 2018 21:56:10.686 [0x7f15c8ff4700] WARN - Got a transcode session ping without a session GUID (or with an invalid one).

So it’s not just me. I’m not 100% sure how to report this to Plex tech support and tell them. There are not many support options. Either an FAQ, the community or an option for hilling questions.

I’m having to manually mark episodes and films watched. :frowning:

Nothing logged/recorded in the DLNA logs.

Also, while media is streamed through DLNA no activity is indicated on the Plex Server when before the Plex server indicated that media was being played.

Same issue here.

Alle the same for me.
And downgrade is impossible because the installer detects a newer version.

So. I think it’s safe to say this is a bug. The bug is that the Plex server seems to have no clue whatsoever that something is being streamed via DLNA.

Same issue here 2 updates ago it started. Synology NAS

Same problem reported here - Bug Report: DLNA Client NOT Updated AT ALL! On Deck, Now Playing, Recently Viewed ...(WDTV Live) - updated w Logs and downgrade works

Downgrading to the last working version 1.13.8.5395 is possible by uninstalling Plex Server then installing the older version. See How do I revert to a previous version of plex.

Not sure what platform you run the server on. On Synology, you can uninstall the Plex package and it doesn’t delete your media, database or metadata. You then install a lower version and all is well (assuming there wasn’t a database change - which there hasnt’ been in the last few changes). I believe this is not the case on all platforms or all NAS’ - try searching for downgrading Plex on your specific platform

Downgraded already … lost nothing.

Acknowledged here as a known issue - Plex not marking viewed items as watched anymore

Issue persists on 1.14.0.5470

Looks like this issue is fixed in latest version 1.14.1.5488.
