Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: New video player
Multi-part content is not working with the newly-updated player on NVIDIA shield. The time of the content will show the proper time of all parts, but it will only play the first part of the content. If I return to the previous version of the player, it will play all parts of the content.
I have multiple DVDs that have extras or content that is sectioned into small files. I make these into multi-part content on PLEX so that I don’t have a ton of extra files and I can just watch them all in a row. This works perfectly with the old version of the player, but the new version stops playback immediately after the first piece of content ends, never going to pt2, etc.
I have the same exact problem. Server Version 1.18.2.2058. Streaming to NVIDIA Shield TV. NVIDIA Shield is up to date with current version and Plex App has been updated to latest version.
The NVIDIA shield does not play all parts in sequence it stops at the end of the first part, the chapter thumbnails and combined overall time are there for the entire movie spanning both discs, when I click on a chapter thumbnail that is in part 2 of the movie it won’t play, and I get kicked out to the library.
I have tested on my android Phone and desktop PC, and my Xbox. The movies will play as expected and play all parts in sequence.
I have several movies and DVDs in multi-parts of my kids favorite shows. The NVIDIA shield is the only device they know how to use, without this feature working in my house there might just be a revolt.
You can also just disable the new video player and play multi-part content. This is a bug report so that they will know to fix the new player. I have just gone back to the old player.
a) The Plex team introduced Bugs, that never should have made it to beta. There is absolutely no alpha testing as it seems.
b) Bug tracking is NOT to be left to users. Testing needs to be done by Plex itself. This is no open source crapware with no money behind.
c) Reported bugs are unfixed for YEARS. Plex developers have no interest in bugfixing as it seems.
It’s acknowledged…So
A. Don’t run beta software
B. Educate yourself that the no ETA thing is a Plex thing.
C. Actually read what others are saying in the thread.
a) I don’t run any beta on my production devices. There are CRITICAL Bugs (like this) in Final!
b) I know. At least it’s a win, when they acknowledge a bug report.
c) I don’t know, what you are referring to.
You are rigt, but a public beta is to be released, when all bugs, that occured in staging, pre-alpha, alpha and closed beta are fixed or at least got tracked.
However: This bug (and many others) are in the final version (and some of them are for months or years). But Plex do not fix them, but rather introduces new features (with new bugs) instead.
Do you have a link to the Bug Tracker maybe? Because it seems I have not found it yet.
I know. I however cannot see, how this relates to anything I said on this thread?
BTW I don’t use the new player anyway, because its totally broken atm.
