Using Plex through my PC to Samsung TV. On a few 4k content, subtitles disappear. If I rewind or seek forward or stop & resume (not pause though) it starts showing again, but then disappears In a minute. I noticed this bug only on some 4k movies.
No one cares about this bug?

This happens quite a lot now, even on some of my 1080p movies. Hello? Is any of devs reading this? Are they trying to fix this bug?
Plex devs are one of the worst. Never listen to community, never even bother to read and reply to feedback, make Plex worse with every update with adding useless things no one asked, instead of fixing bugs. Very immature company. And this forum is useless as well. 1/10.

Any update on this? I’ve been experiencing the same things. I know the subtitles are there, they sometimes show up but then just stop working. If i fast forward or rewind they disappear/reappear
I have the same bug. I am streaming a 1080p HEVC video and watching from an edge browser. The subtitles just disappear after a few minutes and only reappear if the subs are disabled and enabled again.
Same thing. Subtitles disappear randomly. Saw it again last night on a 1080p

Same here. My server runs on my NAS and I’ve been experiencing this issue on a LG TV. At this moment that’s the only player I use, so I can’t tell if the same would happen if I used another one

Same bug here… Running directly from my Windows PC server, subtitles disappeared randomly. (I then watched the content directly from my pc witch VLC where the subtitle worked perfectly)
Same. Running Plex on synology NAS. Happens on all type of content (4k, 1080p etc) randomly but mostly towards the end of a movie or serie. Forward or rewind fixes the problem.
I have the same issue, but only on my roku devices. It appears to work on my PC fine. I record with the DVR, use MCE Buddy to pull out the CC and create MP4s. I am extremely hard of hearing and need this function to work. I am a Lifetime Plex member and joined about 7 years ago. I have two servers set up as a fault tolerant setup and it fails to continuously display the CC on either server using Roku. Let me know if you need more info…
I found the culprit, ROKU did an update on 1/9/2020 and changed the default for closed captions from on to on during replay only. corrected the setting and everything is fine…
I’m not using any of that and my subtitles ain’t working properly. Would be great if this issue could be fixed.
I have Plex on Mac Version 1.18.4.2171 and Plex on Roku with Version 6.4 Build 10. When I play some MKV files, captions stop after about 1 minute. When I play other MKV files, captions don’t stop after a minute. I tried a different Roku with the same version numbers and it also stopped captioning at about 1 minute. I changed “On Replay” to “On” in Roku Accessibility and in Plex and captions still stop after about a minute. Both Roku’s are 3810X with Software 9.2.0 build 4807-50.
The Plex web app works great. The Roku Media Player works perfectly with Plex as a DNLA server.
As a guess, under “Roku Captions Mode” there are 3 options “On”, “Off”, and “Instant Replay.” Certain videos are treated as “Instant Replay” and cannot be changed…
This is a challenge to work around as I require captions for certain shows.
Update: a few hours of testing and I believe I have a workaround. On Roku, in Plex, while playing the video, click on Settings > Playback > Burn Subtitles > change from Automatic to Always. This will keep subtitles working as expected.
Same problem here, Roku, embedded subtitles MKV file… subtitles work for the first 30 seconds only…
Plex definitely doesn’t. Bug is there since at least 2017.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM at LG webOS with 1080p files. It’s really annoying. And NO ANSWER from Plex at all…
I have the same problem! Plex runs on NAS Synology ds418play. I watch movies with plex app on LG C8.
