Server: plexmediaserver version 1.18.3.2156-349e9837e running on Ubuntu 18.04
Client: Samsung TV UE75NU7175 running the latest Plex app version 4.15.2, Tizen 4.0
Problem is also fixed by selecting another subtitle and then selecting the “correct” one again.
I’ve recently noticed the same behaviour, I’ve still have to test a bit more, but my first impressions where that the subtitles actually stopped working as soon as my webhook fires that registers the play in Trakt. I have no clue why subtitles and webhooks would have anything in common that would screw them up, but like I said, first impressions
@Tom_Matheussen I actually haven’t thought about that, but that could definitely be the problem, even if it sounds weird!
I’m having both Trakt and Tautulli running that integrate with plex using webhooks.
Haven’t tried yet, I have been lots of issues lately with my web hooks as well, after a while (a day or 2) they just stop firing, yesterday for example they didn’t fire and nothing got scrobbled to Trakt, my subtitles didn’t disappear either this time. I’ll try to reset my Trakt webhook tonight to check if it scrobbles again, then I can see if the subtitles crap out again
Well, yesterday my subtitles were working just fine, as well as scrobbling and watched status getting pushed to Trakt, so now I don’t know anymore, seems quite random, couldn’t find anything in the logs when it happens either…
Alright. I’ve also noticed that it seems quite random. Sometimes the subtitles work just fine, and sometimes they disappear in the end. I just can’t figure out what’s causing it to stop working sometimes. At first I was thinking it might have something to do with the file/video format, like MKV files with video encoded in HEVC/H.265, but it seems like it doesn’t matter either.
Yesterday I watched an episode that was 1h 1m. The subtitle disappeared after 52 minutes. That should be before it scrobble to Trakt, since it scrobble around 95% complete if i’m not mistaken…
For me the subtitles always stop working after around 75% of the movie. Then after enabling them again, it just happens again after a few minutes. After each reset the time for it to happen becomes shorter and shorter.
The fault does is not with the server it seems because other people that use it don’t have the issue. To me it feels like an issue with the Plex app on WebOS, any news or info regarding this would be great!
I have also being having the same issue on my LG webOS TV (but I have it also on Chromecast) since last summer. I created a report on January but still nothing - not even an answer - from Plex on this highly frustrating problem! See Subtitles stop showing on LG WebOS Plex app.
I hope this will change soon because I’m really getting tired of Plex because of that. What’s the point to pay in these conditions…
