[BUG REPORT WITH SOLUTION] Channels not showing up with WinTV-dualHD

I tried coping the entry I had for channel 2.3 and changing the identifier, name and channel number but it did not work. But it did not work. It still tuned into channel 2.3. I need to know how to update the frequency in the database file. Any help would be appreciated.

Even though I just installed this in January I saw there was a driver update for Hauppauge for Linux. I installed that and it fixed my problem. I don’t understand why other applications were able to find and tune into my missing channels and Plex was not. But it is working now with the Hauppauge driver update and all my channels show up in a scan.

EDIT: This is an issue with mostly only HD channels.

More discussion here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/275014/no-hd-channels-found-by-wintv-dual-hd-tuner-on-nvidia-shield

Plex showed 83 channels when scanning but only 34 channels when finishing it’s scan. It’s shown in the pictures included

I’m not really sure why this is happening. Is there anything I can do to fix this? The channels aren’t DRM encrypted, because my 5 year old TV is picking them up. The plex server is even getting channels like HBO, so it doesn’t make sense why it wouldn’t be getting channels like CNN, TBS, AMC, etc. The tuner also picks up these channels without problem with the WinTv software.
Thanks.

I am having the same issue, using QAM256 cable service with Mediacom!
The wintv software works great and finds 28 usable channels and they are all there.
Plex finds an entire list of channels but none work. So it is not the DualHD tuner…

bump, i am having the same issue and even after updating the channel identifiers by hand and moving the database back to the server it still only shows 1/5th of the channels available.

@World177 sir you are a legend
I’ve just purchased this tuner and was pulling my hair out trying to understand why it won’t let me pick the missing channels.

your fix has resolved my issue

thank you

The problem still persist and also with the new Silicondust HDHomeRun Expand.
I’m able to watch all channels in the Silicondust application, but some of the channels aren’t labeled (named) and are blank. But they are still selectebel.

I contacted Silicondust and this is the reply:

_Our guide listings provider does not have data for all channels in Denmark. We are working with them to get more listings created, but are not sure when that will be ready. Plex also gets their data from the same company, so the issue is likely the same for them, and the listings are created for us, they should also be available to Plex. _

So I guess they have a lot of countries which they haven’t updated for a while.

just to add that today I’ve been testing ā€œunsupported tunersā€ in my plex dvr
with a SAT>IP tuner
and came across this bug (channels incorrectly listed as protected when they should be unencrypted and clear)
