[BUG] Stopping a Movie will not allow you to Resume Playing later

server: 1.21.4.4054
server: Synology NAS DS1019+
client: Nvidia Shield Pro 2019
version: 8.13.1

With the latest version of Plex for NVIDIA Shield, if I start a movie or a TV show on the Shield, stop the playback, exit the show screen or exit the Plex app entirely, and then go back in later to start watching the show again, the show does no longer appears in Continue Watching and Plex does not hold my current place. I can only start the show or movie from the beginning.

This appears to be unique to the android-tv version because if I start the show on my Plex-Web or IOS device, I can fast forward to the point I was at, stop the program, and then resume from that position again on the Shield. But Plex will again forget its place again on the show if I then stop it on the Shield and exit the app.

Hopefully this can be fixed or someone can help me figure out why this is happening all of a sudden. It only started a few days ago that I can tell.

Does it matter how far you are into the episode when you stop it?

after playback stops , if you go back a page then return to the episodes view does the screen update with like the play button now saying resume and does the Play from Start button appear?

A Plex Media Server update was released and I installed it (1.21.4.4079) to see if it did anything and it seems to have fixed it. Either that or restarting my Shield fixed it as I also did that.

When trying to follow your suggestions, it is working correctly now. I can stop a movie or TV show and can completely exit the app or go back to the home screen and everything updates correctly and I can resume now. If it starts to happen again, I’ll update this post.

It’s strange that Plex media server release as no release notes.
