While amusing, a flashback to 1990 wasn’t exactly what I expected when I set Season 3 of The Flash to record.

Agreed, I’ve been dealing with this for a while, even the file name I name it is The Flash.2014.SxEx…
This has been an issue since the show came out. Would be great if it got fixed, but not technically a DVR issue. As it stands Once the show is recorded / added to your library you need to go and “fix an incorrect match” - choose advanced and remove the 1990 - then it will find both and you select the right one.
This has been happening alot I’ve noticed. It will default to the newer year artwork for the movie for some. For example, The Shaggy Dog, that shows the remake instead of the super super old one
MacGyver does the same thing.
I have found that if you go in and tell it it matched incorrectly it gives you the option to choose the correct series and then it sticks. Once or twice I’ve had to go back and do it again but after that it was solid.
I’m believe this is being looked into
Weird. . . . I have never had a problem with the 2014 series when following the “The Flash (2014) - s0xexx” naming scheme.
The weird thing is the program guide for Macgyver, Big Bang, and a couple of other shows that are doing the same come up fine on my desktop computer but are all wrong on my laptop plex server. My laptop is my primary server while my desktop is my backup for when I have to take my laptop with me on a trip.
Also, at least for me, changing the incorrect match doesn’t work. Sure it changes the incorrect match for the shows already in my library but does nothing to get the “scheduled” recordings corrected. Because it of the incorrect match for a few of my shows I’m unable to record. In fact many of my shows on my laptop are hit or miss because of this problem.
Here’s a side by side screen shot of both servers searching for NCIS in the program guide.
I have similar issues. I was finally able to force a match on MacGyver, then I noticed when I turned the subtitles on they didn’t match. Presumably it was from the old show. Funny because they show up and record like one would expect with the correct year and show title (eg. MacGuyver (2016) S01E04 - Matchstick.mkv). But the matching is off.
The Rebel (1959) is being recorded as The Rebel (2016). I have to manually correct the mismatch.
So I was able to fix my issue by “completely” uninstalling Plex and reinstalling. What I didn’t realize was when just doing a basic uninstall through Windows it still leaves everything behind including the program guide. Follow the steps outlined in the link below which literally solved all my issues. Hope it does for everyone else.

Update: I stand corrected… It helped but didn’t fix the original issue. However from what I can tell the recording schedule is correct which wasn’t the case before so that is a plus.
You can correct it after the fact but it reoccurs every time for me, especially as I delete my recordings so any change I made wouldn’t hold for the next recording. Top folder is created saying 1990 but the file itself is uses the correct 2014 info.
I tried combining my owned TV with recorded TV in plex but this issue was one of the reasons I had to separate it as I have the 1990 DVD’s on my server and this was occasionally combining with existing episodes.
