[BUG] When a series is set to record but I want to record another not-new showing.

If I set a series to record such as “The Big Bang Theory” just to have a specific reference. I can set it to record new airings or new and repeat. But most of us only want the new airings. If by chance you find out that an old episode is on and you want to watch that again I can’t seem to find a way to record just that one showing. It brings up the series recording instead of just allowing that one airing to record.

I don’t want to muck around with my series recording schedule. I just want to add a single airing of that show.

Am I missing something or is this already known?

I was wondering about this as well. I got it to work by… cancelling my series (set to only record new) so I could select the episode that was not NEW. After I had the non new show set to record, I set my series up again to only record new. Should definitely be easier.

Yeah that sucks as a process and if that’s what others are experiencing as well then this is definitely a bug. You should be able to record random airings regardless of having a pre-existing series setup for the show in question.

Yep, setting a series to record new overrides any attempt to do what you are asking. This definitely needs to be changed in future releases.

I ran into this as well today. Certainly seems like it could be made easier.

I see this is an old thread but saw the new post. Tested this out and seems like it is working correctly for me on PMS 1.7.4. Not sure what is meant by could be easier though.

For the life of me, I cannot replicate the issue I was experiencing. Appreciate the follow-up. As you noted, this appears to be working perfectly fine. Thx

I believe I encountered this again today… Maybe it has to be a “New Airings” only Series recording, with no upcoming New episodes… but there is a repeat you’d like to record.

If someone has the time to replicate, I’d appreciate it.

  1. I have a Series recording setup for Shark Tank to record only new episodes. There are presently no new episodes, so it shows “no upcoming airings.”

  2. I search the program guide for Shark Tank and find that there is a repeat scheduled for Friday that I’d like to record:

  3. So I click the episode record dot, expecting that it will record this one episode…

  4. Instead, it brings up the Series recording options:

    954×521 192 KB

Also replicated with Judge Judy. Configured Series recording for New Episodes only. There are no new episodes airing right now, but a lot of repeats. If I click the episode record dot for any of the repeats, it brings up the Series Recording options rather than setting that single episode to record.

Just tried this again on the newly released 1.7.6 and am experiencing the issue as well. I have a series recording for new airings only for NCIS. There is a repeat episode airing on 7/18. If I click the record button by the episode I get the show recording settings displayed.
