Bug when editing movies in Plex Web - field locks are not set when changing Poster or Background

When I edit any movie and set any field locks AND during same edit change movie Poster or Background, the set locks are not saved. Field values get saved, Poster / Background changes are saved, but fields I locked are not locked when I re-open Edit screen. Currently I have to do two edits: during one set field locks (then they save) and during another change Poster / Background.

Changing the posters should automatically lock them, you don’t need to manually lock them. If that isn’t working, do you have steps to reliably reproduce this problem?

I didn’t mean that posters are not locked, I meant locks on all other fields, for example title or year or anything. Thing is: I edit Available Date, for example, this sets lock on it (lock icon is orange). Then I go to Poster tab and change poster. Then I save. Then I edit the same movie again, and see that Available Date lock went away - the value I typed is still there, but lock is gone (lock icon is gray). Next time metadata is refreshed the date will be overwritten. The lock saves properly only if I don’t change the poster or background. Hopefully it’s clear now.

The edit page doesn’t remember when you switch to another tab. You need to save the tab you are using before moving on. So

  • edit year
  • save
  • edit poster

Don’t need a 2nd save since changing posters automatically saves.

Save each tab? I didn’t know that. Well, if it’s by design then I guess I have nothing more to say.

“The edit page doesn’t remember when you switch to another tab.”? Are you sure?

Case 1: you open the General tab, edit and lock (i.e.) the Sort Title, switch to the Poster tab, choose another one and come back to the General tab: the Sort Title and the Lock STILL appears how you leave them before switching tab… but when you save changes, Poster and Sort Title save correctly (despite you’ve switched to another tab), but NOT the Lock (despite you’ve saved changes being in the right tab).

Case 2: you open the General tab, edit and lock (i.e.) the Sort Title, switch to the Poster tab, without edit anything… When you save changes, new Sort Title and locked Lock have been both correctly saved (despite you’ve switched to another tab).

Case 3: you open the General tab, switch directly to the Poster tab, choose another one, come back to the General tab and edit + lock (i.e.) the Sort Title… When you save changes, both the Poster and the new Sort Title save correctly (despite you’ve switched to another tab) but NOT the Lock (despite you’ve edit and saved it being in the right tab).

Case 4: you open the General tab, edit + lock (i.e.) the Sort Title, switch to the Poster tab, choose another one, switch to the Tags tab, edit + lock Writers, add to a Collection + lock it, switch to Background tab, choose another one and Save Changes… EVERYTHING save correctly (despite multiple switches between tabs) but NOT the locked Locks.

«Don’t need a 2nd save since changing posters automatically saves.»? Are you sure?

Case 1: I’ve tried what you’ve said but if I don’t Save Changes after choosing a new Poster, the Poster doesn’t change. [EDIT: Sorry, I’ve lost part of the conversation so I’ve misunderstood your statement… that said, there’s not an option to “manually lock” a Poster or a Background image anyway  ]

Case 2: I open the General tab, switch to Poster tab, choose another one, switch to Background tab and choose another one. Now, if I switch back to Poster tab, I see the OLD Poster selected (not the new one I’ve choosed) and if I switch back again to Background Tab, I see the OLD Background selected (not the new one I’ve choosed)… Despite all of that, if I Save Changes, the NEW Poster and Background will be saved.

It’s obvious that editing one thing at a time is the safest (and boring) procedure… but the reality is that EVERYTHING else is saved correctly regardless of any switch between the tabs: the problem seems to be related ONLY to those blessed locks and ONLY when also a new Poster and/or a new Background image is selected.

PS: sorry for my poor english
