[BUG] When transcoding an audio stream, the video stream that is copied gets corrupted

Since version 9.28, whenever I play a file with the audio trancoding and the copied video corrupts and freezes. I can work around it by forcing a video transcode, then switching back to “Play Original Quality”.

Steps to replicate…

  1. Grab the 1080p sample file here → Plex Sample Files - Google Drive

  2. Set the Audio Passthrough to Optical and select both check boxes.

  3. Play file.

Observed behavior should be that the audio will play, but the video will be corrupted even though it is just copying the stream.

Once playing with the broken video, if you go to “Playback Settings” and select a convert option (doesn’t matter which one), the video will play correctly. You can now switch back to “Play Original Quality” and both the audio and video now work properly.

Just to add to this. It happens on WiFi and ethernet.

This was parlty solved with version 10

It will still buffer forever if you habe subtitles enabled during initial play. Turning them off and on will allow you to play.
