Hello, I have a very weird issue with a friend and his user in my Plex server.
I (“owner” for this case) own a plex server and have two more users at home, a managed one for my kids and my wife’s which is independent but invited to the Plex home.
Among other external users there is one (“friend”) who for the last several months whenever he logs in I receive a push notification in my phone telling “owner has logged in”. But I didn’t log in, “friend” is who logged in. He is NOT invited to home, I don’t remember if testing months ago I had him invited but not now, and even that shouldn’t cause this.
Plus he can see “live TV” on my plex if I allow him to, but he is indeed external and not invited to home.
More weird, under “Manage library access” he sees “owner has access to 4 libraries” as if he was the owner looking at what “friend” has access to. In spanish this is much more clear to see this as it’s different written between 1st and 3rd person verbal tenses.
I think there’s some kind of link between his account and mine but we can’t see that.
Tried everything I can except deleting his account and creating it again. Removed him from my server and all, but the problem persists.
Did anyone experience this kind of behavior?
It has nothing to do with 3rd party software.
It’s related to the account management and it’s totally on your side and I can’t do much.
I’ve tried creating an alternative account with another email thinking about “migrating” my server from one account to another, and suddenly my friend appeared as a Plex friend of that new account. And if I go to the friends section of that account there is no one. And I have no welcome email on that new account.
My guess is that months ago when I invited him to my family group something got bugged with our accounts. I just tried to see why he couldn’t see live TV and that was the problem. Removed him from my family group but now I have all this mess.
Super silly and super annoying, makes me think about stick to Jellyfin and forget this trouble, but Plex has some nice features and already paid for them.
