Hello all, been looking at buying a new TV and soundbar and was about to pull the trigger on a Samung Q95T and Q9500T atmos soundbar. Or possibly an LG OLED - haven’t quite decided.
I noticed the Q95T was not Atmos compatible, but expected it to pass it through on eARC to the soundbar - but from what I have read on these forums, this is not the case using the Samsung Plex App.
If I understand it correctly, if I play a film with a DD True HD - Atmos, or DTS:X track then PMS (on a PC) will detect the TV can’t handle it and transcode the audio to E-AC3 / DD+ (but without the Atmos metadata). However if I have films that have an E-AC3 + Atmos track then these should get passed through to the soundbar with Atmos in tact?
My options appear to be either to use an Nvidia Shield Pro as a player, connected to the soundbar and then use eARC to send the picture to the TV; or to try to convert the audio on the file itself to E-AC3+Atmos.
Is that about the size of it?
