Bulk edit from playlist

Use case: I have a playlist about biographies of brilliant people, I’d like to add a label/tag to all the items in that playlist so I could easily filter on that dimension.

Currently when you bulk select items in a playlist, the only option is to remove them from the playlist, a bulk edit option in addition to that would be tremendously helpful.

There’s an existing feature suggestion asking for an option to edit multiple items from a playlist.

A collection might also be better suited to this use case than a playlist. Collections | Plex Support

I considered collections but:

  1. I like to have items in multiple playlists
  2. I have my collections displayed as one item so it would either hide lots of movies if I turn my playlists into collections (if I keep that setting), or expand my current collections that are just fine being displayed the way they are (if I choose the setting that collections aren’t displayed “as one”)

What I really need is the bulk edit from playlist at this point, going forward, my flow will be to assign labels/tags first, then use dynamic playlists to automatically keep playlists with that label.

You can have items in multiple collections.
You can override the library default visibility option for collection on individual collections (e.g. hiding such a collection, in which case it’ll only show in the Collections tab).

Right but that’s a lot more work vs. being able to assign tags/labels and filter as a I see fit either as one-offs or in created dynamic collections and playlists.
