I find out transcode for optimize will create “.inProgress” folder under target folder temporarily.
Can I change .inProgress folder’s location? Like put it into ram disk?
What is your server platform?
Hi,
I’m also trying to move the .inProgress directories location for increase transcoding performance.
I do not understand why it is not the directory “Transcoder temporary directory” which is used to store these files.
Quick tests done on 2 different platforms :
- Desktop computer (Core i7 + 32Gb RAM) with samba distant folders, speed transcoding is x1. With local file speed transcoding is x8.
- Synology NAS (INTEL Atom C2538 + 6Gb RAM) with local folders (HDD), speed transcoding is x1.1. With a symbolic link in /tmp (on RAM) speed transcoding is x1.8.
On these 2 configurations, bottleneck seems to be .inProgress folder location…
Best Regards,
Romain.
