Can I exempt a specific sub-folder from being indexed by Plex?

Server Version#: 4.46.2
Player Version#:

My Synology NAS includes a folder called “#Recycle” in all top-level folders, and that’s where it puts deleted files. “Music” is a top-level folder that my Plex Music Library indexes. When I delete a file, it goes to #Recycle on the NAS, but I don’t want it to show up in Plex anymore. However, since #Recycle is in Music, Plex continues to include the deleted files in my library.

Is there a way to tell Plex not to index that one #Recycle folder in particular?

No, I’d like to keep the #Recycle folders so I can dig something back out if I mistakenly delete it.

I’ll go the .plexignore route. Do you recommend that I go with this example on the page that you linked to?

# Ignore directories called "Modified"
*Modified/*

But instead of modified, I’ll point it to Recycle?

Excellent. Thank you so much.

PMS should already ignore the Recycle bin.

May I please see log files where it is not ignoring it?
If we can capture it failing, I will write it up for Engineering to fix.

It looks like this is named #Recycle.
PMS does already ignore #recycle.

Synology uses the name #recycle

I apologize for being fast and loose with my case sensitivity. The folder in question is indeed #recycle with a lower r. And even though I did follow the advice above to carve out an exception using .plexignore, the issue persists. See the screenshot below showing the filepath of a particular song that I deleted, but is still showing up in my library. You’ll see the path is /volume1/music/#recycle/...

I’m also uploading the logs your asked for. Let me know if I can provide anything else that might be helpful.

(File removed)

Thank you.

This is a problem within PMS which Engineering needs to look at.
I’ve submitted a trouble issue for them to review and included this information.

Please leave your log files here for them to review.

Thanks.

Can you follow up when a solution is implemented?

In the meantime, is there anything else I should do?

I guess I’ll just keep clearing out my #recycle folder so that stuff doesn’t get indexed by Plex.

will do.

I also would like to suggest you keep an eye on the release notes as PMS gets updated.

This is of ample severity it will be listed as a discrete line item in the announcements.

Hey Chuck,

It looks like the stuff in my #recycle folder isn’t getting indexed anymore. Was this fixed in a recent update?

Where can I check the PMS release notes.

Ok, nevermind. Plex is still indexing music I’ve deleted, which moves to a #recycle folder.
