Can I Export Media Data to a new Server?

I’ve got a huge USB External Hard Drive connected to my Desktop. My Desktop is my current media server and all of my server’s media is on that external drive. I am going to be travelling for a year (probably without internet). I’d like to unplug the External USB Hard drive with all my media, plug it into my Laptop and use the Laptop as my new server WITHOUT having to do a new scan. Can I export The desktop’s media metadata to the Laptop without having to do a scan. The reason for this is that I have thousands of movies, tv shows, etc. and I’ve tweaked it all just the way I like it. If I do a new scan, it won’t show the media the way I like after countless hours of tweaking descriptions. I want to export the data to the Laptop, plug in the drive (making sure it’s assigned the same drive letter) open PMS and boom! have it preloaded without needing to scan.
Is this possible? How do I do it?

make sure that the external drive gets the same drive letter as it had on the desktop computer. This ensures that the plex server in the laptop finds all the media files at the exact same path.
