Every since switching to Plex x64 I’ve been frequently getting the “unable to connect securely” error. Other times I’ll get the “something went wrong” error too. Sometimes they’ll fix themselves after about ten seconds and other times I have to refresh the web page multiple times to get Plex to connect. Everything had been working fine under 32-bit Plex but this issue started after Plex x64 install, but not immediately after so that may have nothing to do with it. I’ve been dealing with this issue for several weeks now and can’t resolve it. Would resetting my certificate help?
It is reset but I did not see anything wrong with it.
Thanks. I just wanted to eliminate that as a possible cause.
I would try to change your DNS to something like Google’s public DNS. If you are just using what provided by ISP, DNS rebinding can cause issues.
I think I may have found the problem. Apparently Plex x64 enabled these two settings:
Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth
Enable Relay
Disabling them seems to have fixed the issue.
That helped, in that the issue didn’t occur as frequently, but it didn’t completely resolve the issue. I switched back to 32-bit Plex and that didn’t eliminate the problem either. Finally, I uninstalled Plex and installed the x64 release and that seems to have done the trick. Perhaps overwriting the 32-bit with the 64-bit without uninstalling first wasn’t a good idea. I also changed to Google DNS just in case.
