Can I shut down this paused playback? It's been paused for days... (Music)

Hello,

I have this music track that was paused several days ago. It is still listed as paused. Can I “kill” this somehow so that it no longer shows as Now playing under Activity?

Which client type is this?
If it’s Plexamp, a long tap on Pause will stop the playback session.

The main problem is that I do not have direct access to this client. I am the server admin, but it is another user that has been playing this song.

I suspect it is the Wiim media player app, but I am not sure…

The real problem is that I as server admin do not have full control over what is happening…

Please go to Plex Web

app.plex.tv

Log in as server admin, find the dashboard.

On the dashboard, you find the paused music playback of a remote client:

like this.

If you move the mouse over the user name of the remote playing user, there is a button like this:

Click the button, it will bring up a dialog to stop/kill this media playback.

Click to submit and the paused playback will disappear and the remote user may or may not get a message about this.

Yes, I’ve tried this a couple of days ago.

For some reason nothing happened and as you can see the playback still remains. Now the Stopp Playback options is not available any longer either…

I was anyway under the impression that the stop feature was available to videos only, not music..

Maybe try restarting the server?

Yes, I expect that will fix it, but I was, for now, more interested in a solution where a restart was not necessary.

Ask the user if his Wiim is still connected to power. I suspect it is, and its Plex client is still kept alive and is able to reach your server and update the playback status regularly.

It seems like the Wiim has stopped working somewhere, so in there the solution might be. However, again, it is unfortunate that I can not solve this from the server side, but have to contact other users and ask them to correct something on their end…

You might be able to see the client type by viewing active connections to the server (if the connection is indeed still active). You can view active connections here:

http://plex.server.ip.address:32400/connections?X-Plex-Token=

You’ll need to find your Plex online token and add it to the end of the URL. This article shows one way to find your token.

Once you’re viewing the page, you’ll see in the first column it lists the IP address. Find the one that matches the playback above to see the details about the client, including its type. Some (most?) are very generic but you may be able to glean some info to help you identify the client type.

Thank you.

I’ve identified the client. It is a Wiim media streamer.

For some unexplained reason the paused stream is now gone, after 3-4 days. Maybe it helped asking you guys for assistance..?
