Can no longer cast to Chromecast from either Chrome browser or Plex app on Mac Monterey

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364 (I see there’s an update available, but haven’t yet installed it)
Player Version#: Plex app 1.82.2.4024-64f483f6
Chrome version 119.0.6045.199 (Official Build) (x86_64)

I’ve recently moved my Plex Media Server from an old Dell T110 server running Centos 7 to a new Synology NAS model DS723+.

I can play music on my iPhone 12 Pro from the Plex server using the Plex iOS app, and cast to any of half a dozen devices on my home network.

I can play music from the media server via a Chrome browser on my iMac running the Monterey OS X.

But it won’t cast to other speakers or devices.

Chrome finds several devices, makes the connection sound when I select one, but doesn’t play any sound when I start any Music media, on any device I’ve tried.
.
The Plex app says “No players found” when I click on the Cast icon.

I had a similar problem four years ago in Dec 2019, which I only solved by accident, and can’t reproduce. (Can't cast music to chromecast audio from Mac desktop Plex client, or from browser)

What can I do now to play music, view films, or watch recorded TV shows from the media server, preferably from my computer(s) as well as my phone, and (haven’t tried it, but it probably works) my iPad)?

I have a very similar problem. I have Plex desktop and Plexamp installed on both my Mac mini and MacBook Air. All apps report “no player found” when I try to stream via AirPlay or Chromecast.

However, if I try using my iPhone or iPad, all my devices show up: my Chromecast Audio together with 3 Bluesound speakers via Airplay.

I’ve spent ages fiddling with settings in Plex and on my router but can’t find any obvious solution. I’ve also restarted my Plex server (installed on a NAS) a number of times but nothing works.

This is very frustrating and yet another issue with Plex that stops it being my go-to app for streaming!

I forgot to add that, as a workaround, I have also installed the iPad version of Plexamp on my MacBook Air and that works fine, finding all my players exactly as it does on the iPad itself.

Clearly, there is some problem with the MacOS desktop app itself.
