It’s probably something I’ve set somewhere, but now, when I go to the Live TV Guide or Watch Now, I can’t actually watch anything live. It only gives me the option to record. It used to let me stream it at the same time on the web player (I know, because I can only use the web player from the office I set everything up in).
What version of the server are you running, and what version of the web client?
Web Version 3.53.7
Server: Version 1.13.3.5223
Plex Pass member. Records fine and does play back just can’t watch it live any more.
That sounds a little odd. Can you play it live on any other devices / apps? If you still don’t have any luck, perhaps give your server a restart?
Just tried with my Android phone. Plays fine. Seems to be limited to the web player only so I either have something set wrong or a recent update disabled web functionality? I swear it did work before because I distinctly remember watching live TV on my main computer and I only have the web player there as I never installed the client on it. Obviously isn’t the basic setup since recording and phone playback works. Just wondering what setting I may have changed that would do this. Thanks for trying to help.
Can I suggest trying with a more up to date web client from launching via plex.tv, and let me know if that works for you?

The local web player is updated periodically with Plex Media Server versions. When it’s next bumped in a server update, you’ll see the change.
Can you help me with my issue? Me and a few others running the latest version of PLEX server are unable to watch live TV due to a transcoder error (yeah I know it’s vague, but there is no additional information in the error message. I see the issues when trying to watch live TV on my PC hosting PLEX. The PC is running Windows 10. I’ve tried using the following web browsers: IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. All render the same result. I also see the issue on my Apple mobile devices (iPhone), and the Roku stick plugged into one of my TVs. The TVs with built in Roku play live TV just fine. I have many log files, just need someone to review them.
Another guy reported the issue on his PS4 also.
I’m having the same problem on IOS/ROKU/APPLETV. A bunch of live tv channels do not play. They will play from the Plex media center app on my MacBook though. Seems like a problem with the client app for the above devices.
