I just updated to the most recent Plex Server on my Windows 10 machine (Version 1.13.4.5271).
I can no longer watch LiveTV. On my PLEX for ROMU I get a pop-up that says “Live TV playback could not be started”. On PLEX in a web browser I get “Unable to tune to channel (not on air)”.
If I refer to settings -> LiveTV and look at the tuners, all 8 are still provisioned and show strong signal strengths as normal. If I flip my TV to its internal tuner everything is fine. I did this on multiple TVs in the house so it appears everything is working except for PLEX.
Here are the logs. YES, everything from the server to the clients to the antenna feeds have been rebooted/power cycled and checked for updates. I even stood on one leg facing into the wind while rubbing my tummy.
Man this new system Discourse is terrible. Can’t find anything at a glance and is difficult to navigate.
OK, I guess the PLEX folks don’t care. This new system makes it sufficiently difficult to review bugs and reports at a glance so I guess they are comfortable now ignoring things.
I realize they say customers are paying for features and not support but they might want to note that this is one of the features we have to pay for to use.
Not on air could imply that there’s a difference of time between the client and the server, resulting in the server thinking that airing isn’t currently showing. Is the time correct on all your devices?
Yes, all times are correct. I see others posting similar problems but it’s next to impossible to aggregate issues under this new environment. I don’t know what is was designed for but it certainly doesn’t work well for things like this. Why not use vBulletin like many of the more popular and successful sites? There are a couple “standardized” blog environments.
Can you tell me when you were attempting to watch (an exact day and time would be great), and what you were watching, so I know where to look, and what to look for in the logs?
Couldn’t watch anything and it was now many days ago so I can’t be anymore specific. Look at the last 45 minutes of the log files. I tried different stations on the ROKU and the Web interface, that much I do remember.
NOTHING was available on LIveTV via PLEX but everything was AOK via any TV Tuner.
Would you be able to try again, and give me some more specific information about the exact times, and what you attempted to watch? Without specific information, it’s a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.
We’re no longer on 5271, up to 5291. I already spent all the time deleting my tuners and redefining everything. Had to manually delete all the guide info as I also did 2 or 3 releases before this mess.
It’s getting to be a lot of work just to keep this service I paid for running. Sorry, I’m kind of upset about the whole mess, especially when I see all this VR stuff being promoted.
You’d think that those “paid for features” would get more priority AND you’d think the leading marketshare client (ROKU) would get features like the grid guide. Instead FireTV and AppleTV have recording control and a grid guide and not the ROKU yet ROKU remains the marketshare leader. All things that make me question the PLEX business model.
