Live TV longer working after last software update

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: 4.34.4
Tuner Make/Model: WinTV-dualHD
Platform: Win10

Hi

Since I updated to the most recent version of the Plex Media software, 1.20.1.3252, I am no longer able to stream live TV. On the PC with the Media server on, I get an error message saying: “Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna” and on any mobile device I try, I get the same error message but with the following code: 5000.

Please can this be looked into.

Many thanks

I am having the same problem with my Live TV DVR not working after installing the last update. When I go to the pc with the plex server I am able to watch tv on the pc through the tuner app. I am using Hauppagge Twin HD tuner. I was watching the Live TV DVR through a Roku player this morning before I installed the update version 1.20.1.3252. Now when I went to watch this evening it will not play and refers me to check the tuner or antenna.

I have the same problem (Plex no longer able to access the tuner; everything works well outside of Plex) with this configuration:
Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Tuner : Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q
Platform: Win10

Same problem here

I have the same problem with the 1.20.1.3252 server version and Arch as SO. I purchased yesterday the Plex Pass and was setting up everything up. I was thinking that I messed up anything but, as someone mentioned earlier, I am also able to watch on the pc directly.

I have the same problem, either from latest software update or converting from monthly to lifetime? Really don’t want to start troubleshooting with removing tuner and adding again. Any feedback out there if this works?

Same problem here. I just got plex pass 1 weeks ago. It worked fine for a couple of days. Any Idea of what the problem is? If I cant find out shortly, I’ll have to find a different DVR and cancel my plex pass. Thank You in advance for any help.

Its looking like the last Plex server update prevents the tuner from working. Still nothing official from Plex though. I’ve had a pass for a while, so I’m reasonably sure the problem is not related to the pass. Could be wrong though.

I’m hoping that Plex can fix this with the next update. Whenever that may be.

I have the same issue after installing the last update where Plex doesn’t see my Hauppage Tv Tuner. Do you know if Plex addresses these issues or do they expect someone in the community to come up with a fix?

And ever since the last update, I’m unable to have a strong Remote Access connection.

Is it possible to roll back the server version? If not I would like to see this implemented in the next server release.

I am having the same problem. When I look at the tuner through the software that came with the tuner card it works fine but not through Plex. Is there a way to roll back the last update?

I was having the same problem, but rolling back to the previous version fixed it. I was able to roll back the update with these steps:
-Uninstall Plex media server via Windows add/remove programs.

  • the previous versions can be found in the windows directory:
    %localappdata%“plex media server\updates”…
  • I installed version 1.19.5.3112.

All plex settings remained.
I also turned off automatic Plex updates so it won’t happen again. I figure I’ll manually install updates every few months, so I can plan for install issue debugging.

did it keep your channels, recording schedule and electronic guide?

For the most part, yes all the settings were kept by the Plex version downgrade. While I was trying to figure out what was wrong, I removed and re-setup the Hauppauge tuner. Because of that, I had to re-scan the channels. All of my timers stayed, but for some reason, most (not all) of them lost the setting for “LIMIT TO AIRING TIME”. That setting was blank, and I had to re-set it to “Any” before it would actually find airings to record. I assume this was due to the re-installing the DVR, but it’s possible it was due to the Plex version downgrade. I haven’t found any other settings that were corrupted or changed.

I would also suggest to copy over a few of the previous version folders to an alternate location. before you uninstall I copied a few folders to my desktop and glad I did. I was unable to find the older versions after I uninstalled Plex so I ran the install from my Desktop copies.

Same problem here with same tuner using a safari browser. Somehow though it seems to work ok with chrome browser.

I was able to get it to work with the mac plex app and it direct stream fine. Also seems to work fine on iOS and apple tv apps. Seems to only be limited to certain browsers like explorer and safari. Definitely the same tuner as above though.

Fresh install, uninstalled PLEX, deleted registry, and deleted Plex Local App Data folder. Cleaned registry, and rebooted. Reinstalled PlexMediaServer-1.19.5.3112 Live TV DVR working again. Have not added any libraries. Next.

Plex Transcoder 80% CPU utilization.

I think I have isolated the problem. With the new PMS update I had to uninstall “PlexService_1.1.7.msi” for Live TV to work. I spent the last two day uninstalling and re-installing PMS. Once I removed the service app everything begins to work again but I have to remain logged in. Anybody have any ideas?
