Can not cast to Chromecast

So I just got around installing and configuring Plex on my computer with the following hardware (if that matters):

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  CPU: Intel Core i7 4860HQ @ 2.40GHz
  RAM: 32,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 931MHz
GPU: 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (Gigabyte) +
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (Gigabyte)
       SLI Enabled

And while I scanned my libraries without problem got them indexed and played locally just fine, whenever I want to cast to my Chromecast that is on the same network with a very strong wifi connection, every video refuses to play at all.

It’s not that it is buffering or loading or anything, it just does not want to play when it is in casting mode.

When I turn off casting to my chromecast the video starts playing like normal, but with casting enabled any video just stops working at all. On my TV it just says that is is ready to stream but on the server side (my computer) nothing happens other than the loading icon keeps turning.

Is this a known bug or is there a way around it, I thought Plex was a godsend now that I had a chromecast and could easily cast my video’s with custom subs to my TV but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Could anyone inform me what I could do in this situation, does anyone have any other alternatives that can cast MKV + custom SRT/ASS subtitle files to a chromecast?

Well I’ll be adding the server logs if that would be useful to anyone, hope I can get this to work and I thank anyone in advance for further information!

Server Version# 1.13.5.5332-21ab172de
Plex Media

How are the videos encoded? I had issues with H.265 videos and streaming to my TV.

I tried:

MKV files H264 8bit & 10bit
MKV files H265 8bit & 10bit
MP4 files with hardsubbing

Just anything really doesn’t load through to my chromecast even a very simple file like a plain MP4 file via PLEX.

My experience with plex/chromecast is that the plex native clients don’t work. I can only get it to work through web client, using chrome specifically.

I tried with both and both didn’t seem possible for me. Eventually I’m here extracting MP4’s from the MKV (or converting them) together with the srt/ass files and then playing them with cast player which seems a bit sketchy at first but actually does the trick way better compared to other more extended programs.

What are you using to cast them? The server or something else.?
My understanding (not good) is that the client passes a link that then goes via internet to server to redirect it.
The media is served straight from server to chromecast but maybe the passing of the link via internet isn’t working.

The buildin cast function from Chrome itself really.
