Plex failing to cast some movies

I am having issues with a few movies in my collection. I try to cast them to my Chromecast, and they will start on the player side, but nothing shows up on my TV. Almost immediately, they stop on the player side and closes out of the movie.

This only happens with some movies and it happens all of the time with those movies. Others play just fine 100% of the time.

I can play those movies just fine on plex-web and plex-android players. I also can connect via SMB to the server I have them on, and use VLC to play them across the network with zero issues.

I tried looking at all logs and don’t see anything relevant, no errors. I turned on VERBOSE logging and still cannot find anything.

EDIT: I found this
[Chromecast] NotSupportedError: Failed to load because no supported source was found.

Then I tried playing to another Chromecast in my house, and the movie played fine. So some movies only have issues playing to this Chromecast and i’m not sure why.

I am stuck as to what to try next.

is it the same model chromecast? is it connected directly to TV or to a receiver? Have you tried power cycling the chromecast?

The one that is working is a Gen 3 Chromecast. The one that is not working is an Ultra Chromecast.

Like I mentioned, only some movies don’t work to the Ultra.

I just unplugged and replugged, it did not solve the issue.

It is connected directly to the TV.
