Can not get a certain channel to watch or record

Can not record or watch my local nbc affiliate. (13.1). The sub channels (13.2 etc) record and watch just fine. I get this error message: Unable to tune channel (No parts). I have attached logs.

If you open Windows Powershell and enter the following at the prompt can you record a show?

curl http://192.168.1.99:5004/auto/v13.1?duration=30 -o sample.ts

Seeing an Error 3 in the log just wondering if you can record something outside of Plex using the same process.

I tried the powershell command and it recorded with no problems. What next?

Can you upload the sample here? Looking through logs I am thinking this might be related to an issue I am currently working with an engineer but not sure if it is related. Sent him a message which he probably won’t see until tomorrow.

Also seeing “Unable to tune channel (No parts)”
Multiple channels…a restart of the service seems to help for a while.

Windows 10
Version 3.20.7

I have the sample but it will not let me attach it. I did run it through mediainfo and here is the output.
If you still need the file perhaps I could get it to you another way?

13.1 works and records thru emby. Will not record nor will it tune with plex. Any suggestions?

Can you start a network stream using VLC. From Media menu choose Open Network Stream. Paste: http://192.168.1.99:5004/auto/v13.1 into the network URL box and click Play. While the station is playing go to my.hdhomerun.com and click on the HDHR device and go to Tuner Status then click on the tuner that is being used. Copy/Paste the tuner status information displayed here. Then start a new network stream to: http://192.168.1.99:5004/auto/v29.1 and copy/paste the tuner information for that channel as well.

Hope this helps

Have you tried adjusting your antenna? If this an indoor or outdoor antenna? The signal quality is a little concerning. Quality is normally caused by interference from what I understand. A lower signal quality means some loss of signal which from what I have seen Plex does not handle well currently. Hopefully a future release will handle some bad reception and still record the show or allow watching with Live TV.

I just tried watching 29.1 thru plex and got this error. Unable to tune channel (No activity)
Here is what vlc is telling me.
signal strength does not appear to be an issue. Indoor antenna
Frequency 563.000 MHz
Program Number 4
Modulation Lock 8vsb
Signal Strength 100%
Signal Quality 98%
Symbol Quality 100%
Streaming Rate 7.928 Mbps
Resource Lock 192.168.1.222

After the recent update (3.20.7) I am still getting the “Unable to tune channel (No parts)” error. Thee seems to be the same as hokey1. This is obviously not a problem with the signal strength.

-Happens only on some channels - intermittent
-Seeing on the Browser player
-It seems to happen after Plex has been running for some time
-A restart of Plex solves the problem
-The channel which receives the error has a strong signal (95% plus on all metrics),
-Channel can be tuned by other methods (HomeRun’s app). After a Plex restart, Plex tunes it fine as well.

Using a HD HomeRun Connect.

FYI: looks like a more active thread regarding this problem is at https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/286488/playback-error-unable-to-tune-channel-no-parts

I’ll cross-link to this post too though since there are some good debugging steps.

In my case, a restart of plex server (running on ubuntu 64-bit 17.04) temporarily fixes the issue, and I can trigger a recording immediately, but then a regularly scheduled show on the same channel fails the next day.

My signal quality is 90%, signal strength and symbol quality each 100%. I’ll try the above suggested debugging steps the next time it fails.

I am having same issue with ABC. It fails to record almost weekly. No one from plex has responded: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/289787/major-instability-with-live-tv-after-upgrade-to-1-9-1#latest

The lack of support on these is issue is causing me to consider another solution. I dont think Plex is taking the stability of DVR seriously.

Updated to 1.9.6.4385.
Problem still appears (can’t tune with Plex: “No Parts”, but can tune fine with the HD apps. Signal strong)
Appeared to take somewhat longer to reproduce, maybe?
Once I start seeting it, only way to fix is with a restart.
