As stated, I am having a lot trouble locating the media server in my file system. I followed the suggestions on the “Where is the Plex Media Server data directory located?” page on the website, but it isn’t where it claims it is supposed to be. I’ve looked through practically every folder and subfolder, but to no avail thus yet. Here are some screenshots…as you can see, it isn’t there…!!
That’s not the correct folder. The tilde at the beginning of the path is important; it represents your user’s home folder. So, expanded, it would be:
/Users/your_user_name/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
From the second screenshot, it appears that you’re in the root /Library folder.
I’m not seeing a Library folder under my user name either…my Emby server is where it’s supposed to be however lol…where else could it be if not there?
In that screenshot you haven’t navigated into the Library folder under your user name. It’s hidden, so you can’t see it by default. You have a couple of options:
- Open finder, select the Go menu, hold down the Option key, and then select Library → Application Support → Plex Media Server; or,
- Open finder, select the Go menu and select
Go to Folder.... In the dialog which opens, paste the following exactly and then click ‘Go’:
~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
Either one should get your where you need to be.
HOLY SCHNEIKES!! That totally did it, there it is! Explanation screenshot and saved. Thanks man, you’re a gem😁!
No problem, glad it worked.
