So I had a PC and copied all my Plex Media Server folder, I have a Mac now and the instructions say to copy the backed up server files from pc to LIBRARY/APPLICATION SUPPORT/ PLEX MEDIA SERVER but there is no such folder called “PLEX MEDIA SERVER” on my Mac. I have Plex installed, don’t know what is going on? Is it not even possible?
The folder will be in your Mac user’s home directory but the Library folder there is hidden by default to avoid users from accidentally messing up some critical configuration.
Also… you’ll need to make sure to use the correct path (lower/upper case matter).
- open Finder
- select Folder/Directory from the Go To menu
- enter the correct path:
~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server— the ~ character is a variable for your Mac user’s home directory; alternatively you can also use the full path like/Users/your-username/
When you’re there… make sure to stop the Plex Media Server app before placing your data there.
Keep in mind:
Your media will be stored in a completely different path based on your migration to the Mac. Therefore you’ll need to make sure to follow all the steps from the migration instructions to „re-establish“ the server. With migrations across different platforms thrust can be tricky.
Classic, wrong Library.
